Let's take care of our environment together
"We do not inherit the land from our parents, we borrow it from our children"
Antoine de Saint Exupéry.
The European Ecolabel, a sign of a commitment to the development of sustainable tourism in Reunion.
The European Ecolabel is considered the most demanding at European level.
Promoting establishments whose services and activities have a lesser impact on the environment, it meets the expectations of a growing number of travelers looking for responsible holidays.
Issued by AFNOR, this ecological certification is renewed every two years.
Its awarding system thus pushes companies to continuously adapt to the various mandatory and optional criteria.
OUR CHARTER OF COMMITMENT
Reunion Island is a 2,500 km 2 jewel nestled in the setting of the Indian Ocean.
A piece of overseas France appreciated for the diversity of its landscapes and listed since 2010 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for “its peaks, cirques and ramparts” within the Reunion National Park.
Depending on the season, whales and turtles come in large numbers to the Reunion coast
and also belong to the wealth of this island with its many natural, terrestrial and aquatic facets.
Acting daily through our actions and encouraging our guests to adopt these responsible practices is today a necessity and a strong value that is close to our hearts, and which is also dear to our Relais & Châteaux association.
Living on an island like Reunion involves more responsibilities and commitments ecological for the environment in our way of being.
The European Ecolabel commits us to optimize our environmental impacts, in particular through an action plan, assessed each year, based on rigorous monitoring of the consumption of energy, water, waste and hygiene products.
From the first year, we notably trained our employees, made our partners and customers aware, inventoried all our impacts and reinforced our measures to reduce energy consumption with efficient air conditioners and lighting, and our solar hot water. We optimize our water consumption thanks to regulated taps. Finally, our hygiene products are precisely dosed and eco-labelled. Our waste, especially food, is mostly recycled and composted on site to improve our garden. We also value local suppliers, committed to organic farming or fair trade, as well as service providers offering our customers alternative modes of travel to the car.
We invite our partners to accompany us towards these best environmental practices and the opinions of our customers will have a privileged place in our actions of tomorrow.
We strive for the good of our employees and that of our guests to permanently apply all these environmentally friendly practices for an eco-responsible stay without altering the pleasure and 5-star comfort!
